Board Meeting June 1999

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Taylor with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisor Caughlan was absent.

Motion by Badger to approve the minutes of the May 10, 1999, Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Badger to accept the May, 1999, treasurers report as presented. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Taylor to pay all June, 1999, bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous

The road and bridge report was as follows:

  1. All exterior doors have been repainted.
  2. A planting has been complemed around the park sign area.
  3. Ron Schultz reported that R & B had peeled a substantial amount of sod off his yard.
  4. There have been no safety incidents.

The fire department report was as follows:

  1. Would like to buy l SCBA, cost about $3000.00.
  2. 2 firemen attended the Fire Fighters Assoc. meeting.
  3. There were 2 fire runs the previous month.
  4. There have been no safety incidents.
  5. Ken Stoltman reported that the department would like to have the ISO rating reviewed. The Town must contact the ISO to request a reviewal.

The Board requested that the clerk contact the ISO board. Motion by Badger to purchase 1 new SCBA for about $3000.00.
Carried - unanimous

The clerk reported that the Crow Wing County Association of Townships had written a letter to the CWC Board of Commissioners supporting a one time tax assessment to pay for E-911 signage.

Resident Gerry Brine asked if the Board was inquiring into acquiring additional park property. Badger said he would check into the possi­ bilities.

The clerk reported some minor changes in the recycling program to help reduce recycling costs. A suggestion was also made to move the rolloff dumpsters for easier access.

The clerk requested permission to attend a MAT's summer short course.

Badger reported on the CWC board meeting where communication towers ln northern CWC was discussed.

The clerk reported that a letter had been received from a property owner at the end of Little Whitefish Rd. Several years ago, 40' of property had been deeded to the Town for a road ROW and the land owner was now requesting the return of the property. The Board did not wish to abandon this road ROW.

Motion by Badger not to vacate the deeded ROW at the north end of Little Whitefish Rd. Carried - unanimous

The lodging tax forms and procedures were discussed. Minor changes were approved by the Board.

There being no further Township business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
