Road Construction Plans for Summer 2019

Tuesday, June 4, 2019

Summer is here in Ideal Township and that means road construction season. There are several upcoming projects planned so keep an eye out for construction workers and traffic slowdowns. Stay alert and be safe especially around road projects.

For summer of 2019, the Ideal Town Board has contracted with the Crow Wing County Highway Department to coordinate our road projects. Weather is always a factor, but we have tentative schedules for a general idea of when our projects will happen:

Sealcoating in July

July 12, 2019 8:30am: Crow Wing County and their sealcoating contractor released project schedule details showing work in the Ideal area on Friday July 19 and Monday July 22. Work includes the Ideal Township roads listed below plus Crow Wing County Roads 16, 39, & 3 and Cass County Road 1. Schedule is dependent on weather - watch this space for further updates.

July 11, 2019 11am: Latest updated info says the chip sealcoating crew will be starting on the south end of the county on July 16th and then working north. Schedule and locations can change based on weather,  but expect road work in our area over the next 2-3 weeks.

Will be applying chip sealcoat to the following roads sometime in July:

  • Strawberry Lake Road
  • Ruttger Road (from CR 16 to Schaller Road)
  • Clamshell Cove
  • North Clamshell Lane
  • Silver Peak Road (Melinda Shores to #37210)
  • Harbor Lane (to Harbor Trail)
  • Timber Lane
  • North Point Drive
  • Woodcrest Lane

Resurface & widen Ossi Road in August

Sometime in August, on Ossawinnamakee Road, we will be widening to 24' and resurfacing the first approximately 1.2 miles starting at County Road 39. This project also includes replacement of all mailbox supports on that portion of the road. Expect traffic delays over several days as there is significant dirt work required for this project.

Schedule details

Watch this space for more detailed schedules as we get the information from the work crews.
